The scope of retail marketing is enormous in the Indian market. The marketing models in India have been traditionally based on the direct selling one, where the service provider and the product manufacturer used to have huge marketing departments having the onus of marketing the product or the service. The retail model which is gaining favor today is based on the retailer taking over the responsibility of marketing the product and who in return gets a commission on the same. It is a win-win situation for both the product manufacturer as well as the retailer. This marketing model is here to stay and will see more and more business houses adopting it.
